Yep, that’s me.
You’re probably wondering how I got myself into this situation.
I got my start in a little monthly paper called The Local Magazine in Kiama. Not The Independent, as everyone guesses. It focused on regional events, so I covered everything from the Illawarra Folk Festival to Circus Monoxide shows to World Continence Week.
While writing for The Local, I entered a competition for a traineeship at Official PlayStation Magazine… and won. My dream job.
A few months later, the publisher lost the rights to the magazine. I ended up at Ralph, a men’s lifestyle magazine that people claimed they read for the articles. It gave me a crash course in the publishing world. When my traineeship ended, I picked up some freelance work with Official PlayStation Magazine, which eventually turned into a full-time role.
After a few years, I was made redundant and stepped away from writing entirely.
For the next 13 years, I worked my way up from a sales agent in a health insurance contact centre to the Head of Contact Centre. Then they made me redundant, and I decided to bet on myself.
How I Got Here
I launched pwf services as a leadership coaching business. While building my site, I learned SEO and rediscovered my love of writing. I found out content writing was something people needed and would pay good money for.
Since then, I’ve worked with agencies, founders, and marketing teams all over the world. I’ve written about everything from DIY chicken coops to complex financial tools. My speciality is long-form content, specifically blogs, articles, and thought leadership pieces. Some of the companies I’ve worked with include Valnet, The Hoth, Skimlinks, Interparcel, Centerfield, and Progress Bar.
I also picked up video editing skills. I’ve worked with videographers, businesses, and digital marketing agencies who need long-form and short-form content for YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Some of the projects I’ve worked on include weddings, event recaps, and customer testimonials.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Clients say I’m fast, thorough, and easy to work with. I don’t need a lot of hand-holding, and I don’t come with an instruction manual on how best to work with me. I never miss deadlines. I always ask the right questions upfront to keep revisions to a minimum.
